Prof. Chetwyn Chan, Ph.D.

Prof. Chetwyn Chan received his doctoral training at the Center in Applied Measurement and Evaluation of the University of Alberta, Canada. He specializes in cognitive neuroscience and its application to frontal lobe function, use of cognitive strategies and occupational rehabilitation. Currently, he focuses on two main areas of research: mental imagery and neuroplasticity for enhancing functional regain, and mental ergonomics and occupational rehabilitation. He is the founder of the Applied Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory in the Department. He has published widely in international journals in cognitive neuroscience, rehabilitation psychology and occupational rehabilitation. Prof. Chan's clinical expertise is in prevention and intervention for people with work-related problems. Prof. Chan's areas of specialist consultancy are in occupational health and ergonomics, and medico-legal consultation. He is an editorial board member of Rehabilitation Psychology, Pain Practice and WORK; a fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society; and the vice-chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Occupational Therapy. He is a member of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, the Labour and Welfare Bureau, and the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Hong Kong. Prof. Chan is also a member of the panel of experts of the Workersˇ¦ Injury and Rehabilitation Advisory Committee, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, PRC.
