Prof.
Patrick Loisel, MD
Prof. Patrick Loisel
holds a Doctorate in medicine (MD),
University of Paris VI, specialization in orthopedic
surgery. After a career at the University of Sherbrooke,
he is now Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public
Health of the University of Toronto and researcher at
the Centre for Research in Improved Disability Outcomes
(CREIDO) at the University Health Network. He heads
a team of the 30 researchers/mentors of the Work Disability
Prevention CIHR Strategic Training Program, a unique
worldwide training program for researchers in work disability
prevention.
His work is dedicated to research and evidence implementation
in the field of work disability prevention for musculoskeletal
disorders. Dr. Loisel has developed, tested and applied
in the community an evidence-based work disability management
program, the Sherbrooke model, linking clinical and
workplace interventions, demonstrating for the first
time the specific effectiveness and cost-effectiveness
of workplace interventions for back pain disability.
He is the author of many publications and presentations
in the work disability prevention field. |
